Apocalypse...

If it was the last day on Earth what would you be wearing? Pour Moi...

Hedi Slimane x Dior Homme F/W 2007 - I don't always do print, but when I do...

Maison Martin Margiela F/W 2008 - The l'incognito sunglasses and barbwire vest are everything.

Rick Owens - F/W 2009 - Basically what I wear every day anyways (big peacoat and big fur).

Life Goes On...

So I got the exciting news this morning that I was excepted into the Polimoda Masters of Fashion Design program. I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to study under Patrick de Muynck and Linda Loppa, long time faculty at Antwerp's Royal Academy (my undergraduate dream school). Patrick compared my work to that of his former student, and rising star on the New York fashion scene, Tim Coppens, which is incredibly flattering. I can hardly wait knowing that in three months I will be living under the Tuscan sun, chasing my dreams.

Alexander Wang S/S 2013...

Hands down this is the show to beat. I don't think I've been this excited about a collection in some time. Everything from the shoes and makeup, right down to the killer soundtrack was just spot on. And the clothes?! Alexander Wang never fails to bring the most innovative ideas to American sportswear. Just phenomenal.

Collection Photos...

Shot the collection (sans the jumpsuit that doesn't fit anyone because the body is too small for a person over 6 foot, and since I don't have to fit it to a model anymore that is alright with me). It was shot by my good friend and go-to photographer Elise Lehr. We were inspired by images of the Free Syria Army fighting in the forest.

Senior Pictures...

We had to turn in photos of our work today for a slideshow to be used during graduation. These ones were probably the best representation of my work that I have so far, and work really well together (I could see this being the ad campaign or something). I still have to do a fashion shoot this weekend for the whole collection as soon as I finish those last few pieces.

Line Sheet...

Finally finished my line sheet with the exception of three garments which I haven't finished quite yet!  Still though, it looks pretty slick. Anyone wondering yet why everything says C7C7 on it? It's the name I came up with for my brand. In the very rare and unlikely event that I actually open my own line, it isn't advisable to use your own name right away incase it gets bought out and you loose the rights to it. So, I got the creative juices flowing, and it didn't take long to figure out the perfect option. When people comment on my signature, 80% of the time they say something like "what is that? C7C7?" All my labels have my signature on them, so it says Erik Geiger, but for those not in the know it just looks like C7C7. Cool idea or what?

Anyways, line sheets are what you hand out to buyers when you are selling a collection. It's basically an easy take away thing for them to remember specific garments and specifications. when buyers are running back in forth from trade shows and show rooms they need a little reminder of who you are and what you are selling. Item numbers make ordering easier, materials and colors are listed to give a better idea of the garments (color copies cost more money so usually line sheets are in black and white), the technical drawings give a clear image of what the garment looks like, and the wholesale price is listed so they know what they are buying it for.

So there ya go. Feel free to shoot me an email if you want to order a piece for yourself, I might even give ya a special reduction off of the wholesale price!

Jil Sander S/S 2009...

If you follow this blog it should come as no surprise how much I admire the work of Raf Simons. He was released from Jil Sander during this past Milan Fashion Week, and I was working up a post about his future (as well as Hedi Slimane, who just took over at YSL) as well as a recap of my favorite moments of his at Jil Sander. One collection that is permanently engrained in my head is his S/S 2009 show (which somewhat surprisingly was african influenced). The images from the runway show, as well as the ad campaign are something I reference all the time when working (a look at my inspiration wall in my studio or on my computer will confirm). When out shopping today, I stumbled upon the dress above. I didn't even believe it at first. Of course it had to come home with me. If there was one thing more inspiring than than the images from this collection, it would be one of the pieces in person.

Flats 'n Specs...

I have to say, I'm finally starting to enjoy the technical side of fashion design, good thing too because I need to get all the flats and specs from my collection done soon. Two down, 30 more to go.
